This is a template-specific walkthrough of how we built the Personalized Skincare Routine Builder as a product recommendation quiz.
- Live quiz: personalized-skincare-routine-builder
- Template: personalized-skincare-routine-builder-quiz-template
- General framework: How to build a product recommendation quiz
Build goal
Match respondents to one of three routines:
- Outcome A: The Urban Minimalist
- Outcome B: The Glow Ritualist
- Outcome C: The Barrier Rescue
The flow prioritizes skin-sensitivity safety first, then uses routine-time preference to split non-sensitive users into A vs B.
Quiz details setup
- Quiz name: Personalized Skincare Routine Builder
- Quiz Intro Message: Stop guessing what your skin needs. Answer 4 quick questions about your lifestyle to get a professional-grade routine tailored to your skin type and daily habits.
- Primary CTA: Start My Skin Analysis
Question architecture
Use single-select Multiple Choice blocks for all four questions.
Question 1: The Feeling Test (priority logic)
Prompt: How does your skin feel most of the time?
- Tight or flaky (Dry)
- Shiny or greasy (Oily)
- Oily in some spots, dry in others (Combination)
- Easily irritated, red, or stinging (Sensitive)
This question contains the highest-priority rule and can route directly to Outcome C.
Question 2: The Environment
Prompt: Where do you spend most of your day?
- Indoors (Office/AC/Heating)
- Outdoors (Sun/Wind/Nature)
- Busy City (Pollution/Smog)
This question informs personalization and recommendation copy.
Question 3: The Primary Goal
Prompt: What is the one thing you’d like to improve?
- Fade dark spots / Dullness
- Smooth fine lines
- Clear up breakouts
- Soften and hydrate
This question helps tailor product framing for the final recommendation.
Question 4: The Time Commitment (final splitter)
Prompt: How much time do you have for your routine?
- 2 minutes - keep it simple
- 10 minutes - I love a ritual
For non-sensitive users, this question determines Outcome A vs Outcome B.
Completion outcome design
Each outcome is presented with a product carousel style structure and clear CTA intent.
Outcome A: The Urban Minimalist
Headline: Your Match: The Urban Minimalist Routine
- Purify & Unwind Cleanser
- Vitamin C Serum
- Guard & Protect SPF
- The Full Bundle
Outcome B: The Glow Ritualist
Headline: Your Match: The Glow Ritualist Routine
- Cleansing Balm
- Hydrating Essence
- Plump & Firm Serum
- Recovery Night Cream
Outcome C: The Barrier Rescue
Headline: Your Match: The Barrier Rescue Routine
- Gentle Cream Cleanser
- Ceramide Barrier Serum
- Rich Healing Balm
Logic mapping used
Apply rules in this order:
- Safety rule (highest priority): If Q1 is Sensitive, route to Outcome C immediately.
- Speed rule: If respondent is not sensitive and Q4 is 2 minutes, route to Outcome A.
- Luxury rule: If respondent is not sensitive and Q4 is 10 minutes, route to Outcome B.
Because rules are first-match-wins, the sensitivity rule must stay above all others.
Why this pattern works
- It captures a high-impact risk signal early (sensitive skin).
- It keeps the quiz short (4 questions) while still personalized.
- It maps directly from intent to outcome copy and product cards.
- It supports both conversion styles: quick routine vs full ritual.
Reuse this blueprint
Use this exact structure for other product finder quiz experiences:
- Keep one priority safety or compliance branch.
- Use one late-stage commitment question to split recommendation intensity.
- Keep outcomes distinct and CTA-specific.
