Quiz Details

The Details step is the first stop when you start a quiz. It defines the title, slug, summary, and optional banner that show on the hosted quiz page before any question blocks appear.

This guide will walk you through:

  • Naming the quiz and keeping the slug human-friendly and shareable.
  • Writing the description that appears on the intro screen.
  • Uploading an optional header image and controlling its alignment, size, and compression.
  • Saving the form and continuing to the Questions step.

When to use this

Use the Details step when you want to brand the quiz, control the share link, or prime respondents with the right expectations before you build the question flow.

How it works

  • Title & slug: Enter a descriptive title and the slug field keeps a lowercase, hyphenated version for the public link. The slug is kept in sync with the title while it is empty, but once you edit it manually the builder preserves whatever you set. Clearing the slug will resume automatic generation on blur.
  • Description: Use the rich text editor to describe what respondents will experience. The editor accepts up to 5,000 characters and the text is surfaced on the intro card inside the hosted quiz page.

  • Header image: Upload an optional banner that appears above the question flow. Basic and higher plans can upload an image (Free sees an upgrade hint inside the builder), and the upload is compressed to 600 KB before saving.

Use the remove button whenever you want to start over.

  • Continue & save: Clicking Continue → Build Questions saves the details and opens the Questions step. The builder also lets you revisit the Details step later via the stepper if you need to tweak the title, slug, or description before publishing.

Step-by-step

  1. Enter a quiz title. The slug syncs automatically until you type directly into the slug field.
  2. Adjust the slug so the share link is concise and descriptive; only lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens are allowed.
  3. Write the description that accompanies the quiz intro screen (up to 5,000 characters).
  4. Upload an optional header image (Basic+ plan), then set the alignment and width.
  5. Click Continue → Build Questions to persist the details and move to the Questions step.

Tips / Gotchas

  • Keep titles short and descriptive to help publishers and respondents scan the quiz list.
  • The description is shared with respondents and the hosted page meta preview, so treat it like the quiz elevator pitch.
  • Header images are compressed to 600 KB; if the builder rejects your file, try lowering the resolution or using a JPG instead of a PNG.
  • Use the width slider to set the focal point—25% is great for logos while 100% fills the full width with the image aligned automatically.
  • After saving, you can always reopen the Details step from the sticky navigation to rename or swap banners without affecting question content.
